A Community Years in the Making: The Story of Belcourt at Seven Oaks
March 17, 2026
Every community has a beginning long before the first home is built. At Belcourt Seven Oaks, that beginning was rooted in a deep respect for the area and the people who would one day call this place home. Layer by layer, moment by moment, this community has been shaped with care, growing into something truly special.
As Belcourt Seven Oaks nears the completion of the final homes, it stands as a reflection of more than a decade of vision, collaboration, and commitment to Bakersfield.
A Vision Takes Root
The story of Belcourt began in 2013, when Woodbridge Pacific Group (WPG) purchased the land with a clear intention: to create a walkable, connected village that blends timeless architecture with modern living in one of Bakersfield’s most desirable areas. Beyond building homes, the goal was to foster a lifestyle where neighbors connect, amenities invite daily use, and thoughtful design elevates everyday living.
In 2014, that vision officially took shape as Belcourt broke ground.
The Early Neighborhoods Come to Life
In November of 2016, Belcourt welcomed its first homes with the openings of Mahogany, Patina, and Sterling. These neighborhoods set the architectural and lifestyle tone for the entire community, offering refined designs, livable floorplans, and a strong sense of place that would define Belcourt moving forward.
Momentum continued into 2018, a pivotal year in Belcourt’s evolution. In March 2018, Veranda celebrated its grand opening, expanding the community’s residential offerings. By June, the heart of the neighborhood arrived with the opening of the Belcourt Center Club, a gathering place featuring resort-style amenities, fitness spaces, and areas designed for connection and celebration.
Just a few months later, in August 2018, Tamarind opened, further expanding Belcourt’s home offerings in the community.
Spaces That Bring People Together
Belcourt’s evolution has always emphasized more than homes. It’s about shared spaces that create lasting memories. That commitment was fully realized in 2019 with the opening of Belcourt Park, an 8.3-acre public park developed in collaboration with the City of Bakersfield and Seven Oaks.
From sports fields and courts to open green space and play areas, the park reinforces Belcourt’s role as a true village, one designed for all ages and stages of life.
A Collaborative Effort
Belcourt’s success is also the result of meaningful partnerships. Alongside WPG, John Balfanz Homes played an important role, building the Westcott and Amberly neighborhoods. Together, WPG and JBH helped bring approximately 754 homes to Belcourt, each one contributing to Bakersfield’s growth and long-term vitality.
A Personal Connection to Bakersfield
For WPG, Belcourt is more than a development. It’s personal.
Woodbridge Pacific Group’s CEO, Todd Cunningham, grew up in Bakersfield and has often spoken about the pride of bringing something meaningful back to his hometown. Belcourt represents that full-circle moment: a carefully planned community that reflects both professional expertise and genuine local connection. That sense of pride from Cunningham and the WPG team can be felt throughout the entire community.
Belcourt Today and What Comes Next
Now, as Belcourt Seven Oaks approaches its final homes, it stands as one of Bakersfield’s most thoughtfully realized communities. What began over a decade ago has become a place where families have grown, friendships have formed, and a true community has flourished.
